The last year’s weather extremes have left people with some tough turf problems to deal with this spring.
The Brazos County AgriLife Extension Service’s Charla Anthony said one of the main issues people encounter is erosion. The extreme drought left soil bare and unprotected. The recent heavy rains washed the topsoil away because there was nothing for it to hold onto.
Anothny said local soils are clay based and she advises mixing or tilling compost into the soil to prevent erosion.
