Former Brazos Co. Sheriff Arrested for DWI

A former Brazos County Sheriff is accused of drunk driving.

Ronnie Miller, who was sheriff between 1985 and ’92, is out of jail after posting a $2,000 bond shortly after his arrest for DWI.

College Station Police responded Friday evening just after seven to a crash involving two pickups at Texas and Brothers…between Deacon and Harvey Mitchell.

Statements given to a patrolman accuse Miller of running a stop sign and striking the southbound truck. The patrolman noticed a very strong odor of alcohol from Miller, who said he had two beers over the noon hour or seven hours before the crash.

The patrolman also stated Miller fumbled through his wallet, dropping several credit cards on the ground. After failing field sobriety tests Miller was arrested, he refused a breath test, and later a blood sample was drawn.

From the crash, one person was treated for a neck injury. Miller told the patrolman he ran the stop sign while looking down reaching for something in his truck.
