COLLEGE STATION-Adaora Elonu’s 19-point, 11-rebound effort led No. 13 Texas A&M to its fifth straight home win, 63-49, Saturday night before 7,430 fans at Reed Arena.
Tyra White added 11 points and a career-high tying 13 rebounds for the Aggies (19-6, 10-4), who are one victory shy of their seventh straight 20-win campaign.
Kelsey Bone added 18 and five rebounds for A&M.
Leading by six coming out of the locker room, Texas A&M scored the first nine points of the second half to take control of the game.
The Aggies extended the lead to as much as 21 with 10 minutes left, before an 18-6 run by the Cowgirls (13-10, 5-9) made it a 9-point game with 3:45 to play. OSU, however, would get no closer.
A&M led 24-18 at the break despite shooting just 23 percent from the floor in the first half. The Aggies took a lead into the locker room thanks to some stifling early defense-the Cowgirls did not hit their first field goal until the 8:34 mark of the half, missing their first 10 shots of the game.
For the game, the Aggies out-rebounded OSU, 50-43, and forced 19 Cowgirl turnovers.
Tiffany Bias scored 11 to lead Oklahoma State, which also got a team-high 10 rebounds from Toni Young.
Texas A&M is back in action on Tuesday when the Aggies travel to Norman to face Oklahoma. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center.
