CSISD Bus Crashes Through Fence & Garage, No Injuries

The driver and seven passengers inside a College Station school bus didn’t expect the ride they took Friday afternoon.

Six special needs students, an aide, and the bus driver were not hurt after the bus went through a privacy fence and struck an attached garage.

CSISD’s Chuck Glenewinkel says after the students were checked out and cleared by EMT’s they were taken home in a substitute bus.

Officer Rhonda Seaton says the driver was on Leona and had pulled away from a stop sign at Southwest Parkway. As the bus was making a dogleg to continue going north on Leona, the driver’s seat belt became unbuckled. Seaton says the driver fell out of her seat while the bus remained in motion until it was stopped by striking the fence and garage.

There was cosmetic damage to the bus and structural damage to the garage.

Seaton says no citations have been issued as police continue its review, including a look at the buses video system.
