A Department of Public Safety trooper based in Bryan is on paid administrative leave following his indictment on a charge of making a terroristic threat.

The Eagle reports James Steven Willis turned himself in Monday following his indictment last week by a Brazos County grand jury. Willis, 28, was released on bail a short time later.

The indictment stems from an incident between Willis and another motorist in June. Willis was off-duty and in his personal vehicle at the time.

Authorities say Willis will remain on paid leave pending the outcome of criminal proceedings.

If convicted of the Class ‘A’ misdemeanor, Willis could get up to a year in jail.
