Mayor Bienski Responds to Golf Course Misinformation

Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski says there is misinformation regarding the city’s special election questions related to selling the municipal golf course and purchasing Briarcrest Country Club.

Responding to a statement made on WTAW by councilman Mike Southerland, Bienski says the City Attorney’s office is not sitting on a contact to sell the municipal course.

Bienski says if the municipal golf course is sold, that money has to go into new and existing parks.

The dollars and cents of publicly owned golf courses is one of the considerations for Bryan voters in the upcoming election. Mayor Bienski admits while the city has not been turning a profit on the municipal course, he says there are people who advocate parks are not money centers.
