Horseriding Death West of Tyler

TYLER, Texas (AP) _ A family member and friend say an 18-year-old East Texas mother has died from injuries sustained when she fell off her horse and was dragged for at least half a mile.

A cousin of Cheyenne Ramirez says the recent Wills Point High School graduate was an accomplished rider who lost her balance when her horse was spooked and tried to jump a creek Monday.

Tera Bell tells Tyler television station KLTV that Ramirez’s foot got caught in the reins. Friend Kelli Baxter tells the Tyler Morning Telegraph that Ramirez was taken off life support Tuesday. Wills Point fire officials confirmed the accident but wouldn’t provide further details.

Baxter says Ramirez had been riding since she could walk and was “country all the way.” Ramirez named her 16-month-old son Ryder Bronc.
