Warrant amnesty is being offered for the rest of the week in College Station.
Click to hear WTAW’s Chris Clift talk with Judge Ed Spillane:
The warrant amnesty period in municipal court continues until October 23.
From October 26 until November 6 a warrant round up period will be in effect, meaning law enforcement officers will put an increased focus on serving warrants and bringing in those who skipped their initial court date.
Those will Class C warrants will be the focus of the round up period.
Spillane says during warrant amnesty the $50 warrant fee is waived and the person involved in the original case will not be arrested despite their outstanding warrant.
According to Spillane many people skip their court date because they don’t have money – but he says that is the wrong approach because the court will work with you on one of their payment plans.
Spillane also points out that municipal court is not always just for bad news – the first ever wedding at the court in College Station is being held Tuesday afternoon.
