Probationer Arrested For Theft From Good Samaritan

A 43-year-old man is in Brazos County Jail today after his arrest for taking more than $4,000 worth of jewelry and other items in June from a Bryan home.

Michael John Brauer was arrested Tuesday on a charge of theft of property.

He also was arrested on a Taylor County warrant for burglary of a habitation.

According to a police report, a 63-year-old man told police that he let Brauer stay at his house, and some time between the night of June 6 and the next morning, Brauer allegedly took several items from the home.

The man said he did not know Brauer, but agreed to let him stay.

It is unclear where police found and arrested Brauer. His theft charge is a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in jail.
