All members of the U.S. Senate Foriegn Relations Committee attending Wednesday’s confirmation hearing of Ryan Crocker, televised on C-SPAN, wanted the process to go quickly.

Crocker will be joining the American military and 1,100 civilians. He told the Senate commitee before the year is over, the U.S. may turn over control of as many as seven Afghan provinces to local authorities.
Crocker is no stranger to Afghanistan, having opened the U.S. Embassy in Kabul in 2002.
