So right at the last minute, Mother Nature had other plans…. BP was done, the Aggie War Hymn was played and then the clouds formed, the thunder rolled and the light show started and after more than two hours of waiting for the weather to clear, officials at the NCAA Regional Baseball Championship game decided to pack it up and tell Texas A&M and Arizona to come back today at 12:35 and try again.
So the regional winer that will face Florida State in Tallahassee this weekend will be decided about 3:30 today. Florida State finished off Alabama yesterday 11-1.
It will likely make for a new pitching match-up as both teams will probably now go with their Friday-night starter, A&M with Michael Wacha and Arizona with Kurt Hayer, both on more than 3 days rest.
We will carry the game on 1620 WTAW with the pre-game starting at 12:05.
The other 15 regional winners are now all set as yesterday South Carolina beat Stetson and in the Super Regional will host UConn, a winner over Clemson; Texas beat Kent State and the Horns will host Arizona State; In the craziest region of all, Dallas Baptist beat Oral Roberts and will travel to Cal for the Super Regional. Cal scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth in Houston to comeback and beat Baylor 9-8 as the Bears blew an 8-5 lead in the ninth.
The other Super Regionals will have top seed Virginia hosting UC Irvine, Florida hosting Miss. St., North Carolina hosts Stanford, and Vanderbilt hosts Oregon State
