Two people are dead and seven were injured in a pair of unrelated accidents over the weekend.
The first accident happened about 3:30 a.m., Saturday, on F.M. 46 in Robertson County, about six miles north of Franklin.
State troopers say a 16-year-old Hearne boy was northbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his pickup while going around a curve.
Christine Nicole Jones of Franklin was killed in the accident. Jones, 16, was not wearing a seatbelt.
Four passengers in the pickup ranging in age from 16 to 18 were hurt, including the driver:
- Justin Cole Lehoski, 16, of Hearne was the driver. He was last listed in fair condition at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
- Gordon Chase Ellison, 18, of Hearne was last listed in critical condition in Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
- Dimitri Witherspoon, 18, and Davis Wade Hanson, 17, both of Franklin suffered unknown injuries. Their respective conditions are not known.
The most severely injured was Gordon Chase Ellison of Hearne. Ellison, 18, was last listed in critical condition at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
The second accident happened shortly after 11 p.m., Saturday, on F.M. 60 in Burleson County, about two miles west of Snook.
Authorities say a 46-year-old Bryan man was eastbound on F.M. 60 when he lost control of his pickup and ran off the road.
Theresa Kaye Sweeden, 18, of Hockley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three passengers were all in stable condition:
- Richard Stanley Bowersox, 46, of Bryan was the driver.
- Passengers were: Kristopher Ryan Bowersox, 23, of Magnolia and Jamie Renee Dorn, 31, of Bryan.
