Aggie Hoops head to Heartland tonight

Both Aggie basketball teams are on the road in the Heartland tonight as the 22nd ranked Aggie men will try to do the near un-doable when they take on second ranked Kansas in Lawrence. Until Texas beat KU at Allen Fieldhouse on Jan 22nd, the Aggies of 2007 were they last visitor to win there. In between there were 69 straight wins. Ofcourse it’s a special homecoming for Coach Mark Turgeon, returning to the court where he grew up a KU fan and then played for a Jayhawk team that went ot the final four.

It’s senior night at KU and they can gain sole possession of first place in the Big 12 with one game to play. They are looking for their seventh straight regular-season Big 12 title. Tip of at 8 pm and you can hear the game on 1620 WTAW.

Last night in the Big 12, Oklahoma State beat Baylor 71-60 to further damage Baylor’s NCAA chances. Nebraska beat Missouri 69-58 as the Tigers drop to 1-7 in Big 12 road games. The Missouri loss though did guarantee A&M at least a fourth seed and a bye in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament

The 5th ranked A&M women will be at Bramlage Coliseum in Mahnattan tongiht at 7 to take on a Kansas State team that’s still trying to build their NCAA resume. The Wildcats are 8-6 in the Big 12 and like most recent Aggie opponents, are lookig for a signature win that will impress the selection committee. They are 18-9 for the year and have lost four of their last six games. The Aggies are in second place in the Big 12 but if they could run the table by beating K-State tonight and Nebraska at Reed Arena on Saturday and then win the Big 12 Tournament which could include a win over Baylor, that should give A&M a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. That’s all a tall order but the Ags could pull it off. But it starts tonight in the Little Apple. We will have the game on 1150 A&M starting with the pre-game at 6:45.
