Bryan wins; Rudder and Consol fall in hoops playoffs

High school basketball playoffs and the season is done for the Rudder Ranger girls as they fell to Jacksonville 45-39 in the State 4A Region II quarterfinals at Buffalo. The Rangers finish the season 29-7.

The boys started the playoffs last night and the Rudder boys fall in their opener to Lancaster 85-69. Rudder had trailed by 15 early but caught up before Lancaster won it in West. Rudder ends its season at 26-7.

The Bryan Vikings boys passed their first test of the post-seasopn with a 68-64 win over Mesquite in Fairfield. J-Mychal Reese scored 34 in the game that Bryan never led in the second half until the final minute. The Vikes will next meet Lakeview Centennial.

The Consol Tiger boys hit a buzzsaw in Desoto and fell in the bi-district game 58-38. The Tigers’ season ends at 17-15 while Desoto goes to 33-3. Alex Curuso led Consol with 18 points.
