New Electric & Water Meters Coming to Bryan

All 46,000 electric meters serving BTU customers will be replaced starting next month.

General Manager Dan Wilkerson says the purchase of radio controlled meters was approved at this week’s BTU board meeting.

While the price tag is over $4.4 million dollars, Wilkerson says savings are projected at over one million a year.

Comments from Dan Wilkerson.

Wilkerson says they’ll also know immediately when there’s a power outage.

As for the former meter readers, Wilkerson says those employees were assigned new positions.

The Bryan City Council approved not only replacing the electric meters, but 8,000 water meters that have the new technology.
