Texas A&M Women’s Golf Set for Lubbock Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 19 Texas A&M women’s golf team was chosen to participate at the Lubbock regional as the No. 4 seed, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
This marks the fourth-consecutive NCAA regional selection for the Aggies under head coach Gerrod Chadwell. The Maroon & White have advanced through their past three regional tournaments to NCAAs where they have gone to match play every year. During Chadwell’s tenure, Texas A&M has achieved a top four seed in all four regionals.
The Lubbock Regional will take place at The Rawls Course May 5-7. The 12-team field is highlighted by No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Wake Forest, No. 18 Arizona and No. 30 Iowa State. The Aggies need to finish within the top five after 54 holes in order to advance to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California, May 16-21.
The Aggies are led by Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio who has garnered two SEC Golfer of the Week honors with two collegiate victories this season. The sophomore is ranked No. 28 on the Scoreboard Rankings and leads the team with a 71.2 scoring average.
Vanessa Borovilos also leads the charge with two SEC Freshman of the Week honors to her name and a league golfer of the week nod. The Canadian is the No. 3 ranked freshman in the SEC and is No. 39 overall among collegiate golfers.
