Local Drivers Arrested For DWI, Evading, And Reckless Driving

Motorists trying to get through the construction zone on William Joel Bryan Parkway during last Wednesday’s commute (December 18) had another obstacle. A Bryan police arrest report says officers responded to the report of a car almost causing almost four collisions, knocking over traffic cones, and driving on sidewalks. The car was found nearby in the area of 28th and Houston. An officer turned off the engine to the car, which was high centered on the curb and the front tires were in the mud. The driver was arrested for DWI after failing field sobriety tests. The BPD arrest report says the results of breath alcohol tests on 39 year old Melinda Ruiz of Bryan were more than two and a half times the legal limit at .227 and .225. Ruiz is out of jail after posting a $4,000 dollar bond.

A College Station police officer gets in a chase with a pickup he observed going an estimated 115 miles per hour at two in the morning on Sunday (December 22). A three mile pursuit that began on the freeway near Southwest Parkway ended when the truck pulled into a driveway of a home near Rock Prairie Road and Normand Drive. The driver, 20 year old Jonathan Olivarez of College Station, went to jail for evading arrest, underage DWI, and underage possession of tobacco. Olivarez is out of jail after posting an $8,000 dollar bond on the DWI charge and personal recognizance bonds on the other charges. A 20 year old passenger was arrested for illegal possession of his brother’s drivers license.

Bryan police responding to the report of a lot of vehicles chasing each other inside Midtown Park Saturday night (December 21) just before 11 led to one arrest. The BPD arrest report says an officer saw a car driven by 19 year old Jarod Perry-Aguirre of Bryan leave tire markings on the pavement and generate white smoke in a parking lot. The arrest report also says a large group of people who was watching were able to get in their vehicles and leave. Officers allowed Aguirre to give his car keys to a friend. He is out of jail after posting a $2,000 dollar cash bond on a charge of reckless driving.
