The lone public speaker at the last College Station city council meeting (November 14) was delayed in starting her comments.
Retired councilwoman Elizabeth Cunha was unexpectedly preempted by mayor John Nichols.
Before the meeting, there was a reception where retired councilmembers Linda Harvell and Dennis Maloney were presented street signs as a parting gift for their service.
Because Cunha did not attend the reception, the mayor presented her street sign before she began here public comments.
Cunha, who explained she attended a school party instead of the reception, congratulated the three newly elected councilmembers.
The mayor, starting his 13th year on the governing body, complemented Cunha’s work on the council and a community volunteer.
