A federally funded semiconductor research and development center going to Albany, New York is not the project being recruited for the Texas A&M system’s RELLIS campus.

That’s according to Bryan mayor Bobby Gutierrez, who was contacted by WTAW News after U.S. senator Chuck Schumer announced an $825 million dollar federal appropriation for what Schumer says is the first location for a National Semiconductor Technology Center.

As for the more than $11 billion dollar RELLIS facility, proposed property tax breaks are being reviewed by the governor’s office and the Bryan ISD school board.

Incentives for the RELLIS project were previously approved by the Brazos County commission and the Bryan city council.
