News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
LEXINGTON – Texas A&M volleyball assistant coach Jeff Fiorenza was named a 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 College Award Honoree, the organization announced Wednesday.
The Thirty Under 30 honors program recognizes up-and-coming coaches in these different sectors of the sport who serve in a range of roles, from head coach to volunteer assistant to club director. Each of this year’s recipients had to be age 30 or under as of Dec. 31, 2023, to qualify for the award.
“I’m excited that the AVCA has recognized Jeff for what he is and that is one of the best coaches in the game today,” head coach Jamie Morrison said. “He has a relentless work ethic and a ferocious appetite for learning about the game of volleyball and that has turned him into one of the best there is in what we do.”
In his second year as assistant coach, Fiorenza has helped lead the program to a 28-16 record and its first NCAA Tournament berth in five years in the 2023 season. Fiorenza works directly with the Aggie setters who have started the 2024 campaign off strong, as Maddie Waak was named SEC Setter of the Week (9/2) and leads the conference in assists per set (10.77).
“Receiving the Thirty Under 30 award is an incredible honor and top tier moment in my career,” Fiorenza said. “It’s a testament to the hard work, time and energy that has brought me here, and it gives me even more motivation to keep going. I’m blessed for all the opportunities that have helped get me to this point and all my fellow coaches that have helped me learn along the way. A special shoutout to all my athletes along the way as well, I wouldn’t be who I am without them.”
