Aggie Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision versus Vanderbilt

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

The Texas A&M soccer team lost a 2-0 contest against the Vanderbilt Commodores Thursday evening at Ellis Field.

Vanderbilt (6-2-5, 1-2-3 SEC) put a header into net in both halves to pull out the victory. The first goal was courtesy of Addie Porter on a corner kick offering from Maci Teater in the 25th minute. With just under 10 minutes remaining in the match, the Commodores added an insurance goal with Caroline Betts finishing on a Courtney Jones cross.

Texas A&M (8-6-0, 3-3-0 SEC) held a 29-22 advantage in minutes possessing the ball in the offensive end, but the Aggies were unable to break the scoring seal. As has been the case on four occasions this season, the Maroon & White lost despite holding an advantage in shots, owning a 16-12 edge Thursday.

Sydney Becerra and Gracey Ivey were the most dangerous Aggies on the offensive end. Both midfielders peppered four shots, including two-on-goal apiece, but Vanderbilt’s Sara Wojdelko was up to the task with five saves on the evening.

One of Texas A&M’s best opportunities to score was snuffed out before a shot could be taken. Adysen Armenta worked her way into the penalty box on the dribble and was taken down by a defender with a fistful of jersey.
