BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M goalkeeper Sydney Fuller was named SEC Freshman of the Week after her standout play in a 4-1 victory over Ole Miss, her second recognition of the season.
In the Friday night matchup, Fuller had four saves in a dazzling performance helping the Aggies take down the Rebels for the third straight year. She registered four saves and held a shutout until the waning moments when the Rebels, trailing 4-0, scored a cosmetic goal on a free kick from 19 yards.
With the win, the Maroon & White improved to 3-2-0 in conference play and sit in fourth place. On the season, Fuller has started nine games and totaled a respectable 27 saves. She also holds a 1.11 goals-against average and owns three shutouts.
The Aggies host the Vanderbilt Commodores Thursday at 7 p.m. before traveling to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide Sunday at 6 p.m.
