Texas A&M Women’s Tennis Announces SEC Schedule

News release from Texas A&M Athletics:

BRYAN COLLEGE-STATION – The Texas A&M women’s tennis team unveiled the 2024-25 SEC schedule, highlighted by eight top-25 ranked matchups, head coach Mark Weaver announced Monday.

The No. 1 Aggies look to repeat as SEC champions for the fourth-consecutive season and open conference play with a road match at No. 10 Texas Thursday, Feb. 20. The match is part of the revival of the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown with the winner receiving a point in the rivalry standings.

Texas A&M hosts Arkansas for the first SEC home match of the season Friday, Feb. 28. The Aggies were a perfect 12-0 at home in the 2023-24 campaign and are on a 55-match winning streak at the Mitchell Tennis Center. The Maroon & White are 8-2 in the last 10 matches versus the Razorbacks.

The Aggies conclude SEC play with a big match against No. 3 Georgia Sunday, Apr. 13. The conference co-champions faced the Maroon & White in the SEC Tournament and NCAA Championship title matches last season. The Bulldogs have the No. 2 player in the nation, Dasha Vidmanova, and finished last year 25-5.

The Maroon & White face six more top-25 ranked opponents in the SEC, including No. 19 Oklahoma (Mar. 2) and No. 20 South Carolina (Apr. 11) at Mitchell Tennis Center. A rigorous road slate includes No. 12 Tennessee (Mar. 30), No. 14 Florida (Mar. 9), No. 17 Auburn (Mar. 7) and No. 24 Vanderbilt (Mar. 16).

The SEC Tournament is Apr. 16-20, hosted by Auburn. The Aggies aim for their fifth consecutive tournament finals match.

Texas A&M is the only team in the nation with two players in the ITA top 10, including No. 1 Mary Stoiana and No. 9 Nicole Khirin. The Aggies are also the only team with three players in the ITA top 20, with Mia Kupres slotted at No. 20. The Maroon & White boast three doubles teams ranked in the ITA top 60.
