An employee of a College Station bank prevents someone from cashing a forged check for $15,000 dollars. A College Station police arrest report says they were contacted after the bank employee spoke with the account holder, who lives in Lubbock. The victim told the bank employee she had the real check that the suspect was trying to cash. 42 year old Corina Yanez from Houston, who told police she was being paid to plan a wedding but could not prove it, was arrested for forgery against an elderly person and possessing a controlled substance. Yanez is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $10,000 dollars.
Seven Bryan police officers and a drone were involved in capturing a man wanted for violating parole for robbery. The BPD arrest report from Tuesday’s incident (September 24) began with a stakeout outside fast food restaurants in front of the Bryan Walmart store on Briarcrest. The pursuit began after the man left a restaurant. Officers chased him across Briarcrest, where the man jumped into the backyard of a home on Quail Hollow. The man ran to the Bryan municipal golf course where he temporarily eluded officers. About ten minutes after the chase began, the man was caught with the help of the drone on Apple Creek Circle. 18 year old Teriyan Welch of Bryan is jailed without bond on the parole violation.
