A&M Not Affected By Statewide Rolling Outages

In a prepared statement from Texas A&M University:

Campus utility officials say the university is not expected to be adversely impacted by the statewide rolling power outages required by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).

Due to high power demands, local utilities customers, both residential and commercial, may experience approximately 20-minute power outages.

“We have been informed by BTU, the university’s primary power supplier, that the campus should not be affected by the planned outages unless conditions change,” said Texas A&M’s Director for Utilities and Management Jim Riley.

He also strongly advises the entire campus community to make a concerted effort to conserve energy by turning off all unnecessary lights and equipment.

Officials note that the campus is experiencing problems with steam production. Those problems may affect heating in some buildings on campus. Crews are working to correct the problem as soon as possible.
