Texas A&M Faculty Members Asked To Participate In A Survey Regarding The Upcoming Interchange Project At Wellborn Road & George Bush Drive

Members of the Texas A&M faculty senate get an update on the interchange that will be built at George Bush Drive and Wellborn Road. Debbie Albert at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) says faculty input can make the construction process less messy. Faculty members are asked to participate in a survey. Albert says out of 3,000 responses, very few have come from faculty members. Click HERE to be directed to the survey website. Albert says the current timetable calls for construction to start as soon as the spring of 2026. Albert says the current design is a deeper version of what is at Wellborn and Old Main. Traffic on George Bush is currently designed to go 35 feet below Wellborn and the railroad. In between, will be a pedestrian path. Over 300,000 cubic yards of dirt will be removed. And the project design includes a pump station and a detention pond at the former site of a McDonald’s to remove and store storm water during rain events. College Station City Council Approves Occupancy Restrictions Sought By Homeowners In Three Neighborhoods

The College Station city council approves a request by the owners of 104 of 147 home lots in three subdivisions to limit the number of unrelated residents to two. The council at its August 8th meeting unanimously approved the ROO, or restricted occupancy overlay designation for homes along Ashburn between Dominik and Lincoln. The homes are in the College Hills Woodlands, Woodland Acres, and Sweet Briar additions. Councilman Dennis Maloney noted that only 13 percent of subdivisions in College Station have enough owner occupied homes to apply for a ROO. Gabriel Schrum of the city’s planning and development office said grandfathering is allowed of existing rental homes with three or four unrelated occupants. That is permitted as long as those homeowners remain current with the city’s rental registration program. College Station Police Traffic Stop Results In The Arrests Of The Driver And A Passenger Who Have The Same First And Last Name

A College Station police officer who witnessed road rage, stopped the vehicle after seeing what the CSPD arrest report says was a brake check of a second vehicle. The officer then arrested the driver and the passenger. Both men, who live in Bryan, have the same first and last name. The driver, 21 year old Jose Alfonso Montanez Jr., was charged with DWI. The CSPD arrest report says breath alcohol samples measured more than one and a half times the legal limit at .153 and .138. He was also arrested for possessing a vape pen containing THC. He was released from jail after posting bonds totaling $7,000 dollars. At the time of that arrest, jail records show the driver was out on bond following an arrest in April 2024 for assaulting a pregnant person and child endangerment. The passenger, 29 year old Jose Angel Mendez Montanez, was arrested for public intoxication. Online jail records show he was “transferred to other agency” after being held for federal immigration authorities.
