PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Texas A&M men’s golf standout Phichaksn Maichon was slotted No. 10 in the PGA TOUR University preseason rankings for the Class of 2025 released Wednesday.
Maichon earned PING All-America Third Team status for the 2023-24 campaign as well as being named All-SEC Second Team. He led the Aggies in tournaments played (14), rounds played (42), versus par (-1.03) and stroke average (70.28). Maichon wrapped up the season slotted at No. 15 in the Clippd National College Player Ranking and posted a 917-287-42 W-L-T.
The Bangkok, Thailand native pummeled the field by eight strokes in earning his second career victory with a record-setting performance at the Louisiana Classics in March. He won the title with a tournament record tally of 18-under 198. Maichon also finished runner-up at the NCAA Stanford Regional and third at the Aggie Invitational. His stellar play landed him a spot on the International Team for the Arnold Palmer Cup.
PGA TOUR University was developed to accelerate the path to the PGA TOUR for the nation’s top collegiate players. The No. 1 player in the final PGA TOUR University ranking next may earns PGA TOUR membership. Players No. 2-5 (fully exempt) and No. 6-10 (conditional) earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2025. All players ranked No. 6-25 earn fully exempt membership for the North America swing of PGA TOUR Americas in 2025.
In partnership with the World Amateur Golf Ranking, PGA TOUR University ranks players based on the last two years of their collegiate careers. Eligible tournaments include NCAA Division I competitions, official PGA TOUR tournaments and select DP World Tour events. The ranking period for the Class of 2025 began week 23 of 2023 and concludes May 26, 2025 following the final round of stroke play at the NCAA Division I Championship.
Maichon and the Aggies open the 2024-25 season at the Sahalee Players Championship in Sammamish, Washington, Sept. 7-8.
