Brazos County Commissioners Extend Contract To Continue Hosting The Texas 4-H State Horse Show

The Texas State 4-H horse show will continue being held at the Brazos County Expo complex. Brazos County commissioners during Tuesday’s (July 23) meeting approved an extension through the year 2028. The event has been at the expo since 2019. The unanimous vote, without public comment, gives the state extension service $50,000 dollars a year from the county’s hotel occupancy tax fund. The state extension service is also eligible to receive a credit of up to $12,000 dollars a year in renting the expo complex. The amount of the discount depends on the number of hotel rooms that booked that are associated with the show. The website for the horse show says they expected 350 participants along with family members.

Leadership Brazos Alumni Association Recognizes 75 Years Of Newman Printing

The Leadership Brazos Alumni Association’s (LBAA) annual leadership luncheon recognizes 75 years of Newman Printing Company. Speakers included the company’s current president, Louis Newman III. The event also serves as the kickoff for taking applications for the 2025 Leadership Brazos program. City of Bryan Update On The Infomaniacs Includes An Upcoming Retirement

The city of Bryan’s City Secretary, Mary Lynne Stratta, visited with WTAW’s Scott DeLucia about recruiting for boards, committees, and commissions. At the end of the visit, Stratta announced she will be retiring August 22nd after 34 years with the city. Stratta also said taking over the position is deputy city secretary Melissa Brunner. According to the city of Bryan website, Stratta has also served as the city’s legislative director and has been responsible for operating municipal court, the city marshal’s office, council services, communications and marketing, and neighborhood and youth services. That is in addition to responsibilities spelled out by state law that includes elections and birth and death records.
