News release from Texas A&M Atheltics:
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Director of Texas A&M Swimming & Diving Blaire Anderson announced the addition of Jamie Lew to the staff as an assistant swimming coach Monday afternoon.
“We are thrilled Jamie is joining the Texas A&M coaching staff,” Anderson said. “He is passionate, creative and focused on providing the best experience for our student-athletes. He will play an instrumental role in our continued development into a national championship contending program.”
“This journey has been one of taking advantage of every opportunity,” Lew said. “I could not have gotten here without people continuing to take chances on me. Thank you to Kyle Schack, Kevin Tyrrell, Nate Kellogg, Ray Looze and now Blaire Anderson. Let’s Gig ‘Em Aggies!”
Lew arrives in Aggieland after spending three seasons at Indiana. After serving as the volunteer assistant coach for the 2021-22 season, Lew moved into his most recent role of director of operations for the program. During his time at Indiana, the Hoosiers claimed four Big Ten team titles while both the men’s and women’s squads posted top-10 finishes at NCAA Championships. He worked closely with head coach Ray Looze to develop and guide Josh Matheny to becoming a U.S. Olympian.
Prior to his time at Indiana, Lew spent the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons at William & Mary coaching the distance swimmers and helping the Tribe claim its sixth straight Coastal Athletic Association title on the men’s side.
Lew began his coaching career as an age group coach with Crimson Aquatics from 2015-19, while also serving as a volunteer assistant coach with the Harvard men’s team. He helped guide Harvard to a top-eight finish at NCAA Championships.
Lew was a four-year member of the Union College swim team, earning All-Academic honors each of his last three seasons. He set lifetime-bests in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly at the conference championships his senior year. He graduated from Union in 2015 with a degree in biology.
