Bryan police learn that a man arrested in the middle of the night for a car burglary south of Stephen F. Austin middle school was also wanted on a warrant charging him with aggravated sexual assault of a child in February of last year. The BPD arrest report says the mother of the car owner came home around 1:40 Wednesday morning (May 8) to find the suspect inside her son’s car. The suspect was found about 20 minutes later and three blocks from the burglary. 26 year old Jeremiah Botley, who denied entering any vehicles in the neighborhood, was released from a state prison after being sentenced in November 2023 to 13 months for felony theft of a firearm and 180 days in the county jail for two vehicle burglaries and evading arrest. Botley remained jailed as of May 9 in lieu of bonds totaling $52,000 dollars.
A Bryan police officer driving past a pickup without headlights last Saturday night (May 4) at ten p.m. led to a Bryan man’s 40th trip to the Brazos County jail since 2002. 54 year old William Charles Johnson Jr. was charged with DWI with two prior convictions and evading arrest. The BPD arrest report says Johnson drove about five blocks before stopping in his driveway. He got out of his truck after repeated requests from family members. Court records show that the prior Monday (April 29), Johnson was fined after pleading guilty for the ninth time since 2007 for driving with an invalid license. Johnson remained jailed as of May 9 in lieu of bonds totaling $80,000 dollars.
