More than $6 million dollars of spending cuts were identified by Bryan ISD administrators for the 2024-25 school year.
BISD school board members expressed no opposition during Monday’s (May 6) meeting.
Increasing class sizes by one or two students is projected to save $4 million dollars by not having as many teachers.
Board members were told that no layoffs are planned, but an undisclosed number of vacant positions will not be filled.
Administrators say another $1 million could be saved by not filling central office vacancies and possibly using grant money to pay for several other positions.
BISD is projected to save $750,000 dollars by conserving electricity and $500,000 by reducing the amount of staff travel and attending conferences.
