Texas A&M Softball Swept by Florida

GAINESVILLE – The No. 8 Texas A&M softball team lost the series finale in six innings at No. 9 Florida, 11-3, Sunday afternoon at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

Texas A&M (39-12, 15-9 SEC) doomed itself leaving 11 Aggies stranded, despite hitting 7-for-11 with runners on-base. The Aggies scored in the opening frame after Jazmine Hill lined a two-out double to left center, before Julia Cottrill drover her in by reaching on an error.

Florida (43-12, 17-7 SEC) answered with two runs in the bottom half, before adding a pair of runs in each the third and fifth as the Aggies trailed 6-1 after five.

Texas A&M cut the deficit in half in the top of the sixth after scoring two runs on three hits, before the Gators ended all hope of a comeback plating five runs on four hits to end the game via run-rule.

Aggie starter Emiley Kennedy (20-10) suffered the loss after pitching 3.0 innings and striking out one, while allowing four runs on four walks and one walk.

UP NEXT

Texas A&M secured the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament and will play Thursday, May 9, with a time and opponent to be determined. The 2024 SEC Tournament is hosted by Auburn at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn beginning May 7-11.

B6 | Kowaleski singled and Kistler homered down the right field line. Williams walked, Falby singled and Otis walked to load the bases. Wallace reached on a fielder’s choice before Erickson hit a bases clearing double to end the game. TAMU 3, UF 11
