No. 14 Texas A&M Softball Hosts Kentucky

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M softball team is slated to host the Kentucky Wildcats beginning Friday at 6 p.m. at Davis Diamond.

The three-game SEC series continues with a Maroon Out game on Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a BTHO Cancer series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. Saturday’s game is featured as a national broadcast on SEC Network with Alex Loeb as play-by-play and Kenzie Fowler as the analyst. Will Johnson (play-by-play) and Donna Conrad (analyst) are on call in the bookend games that can be streamed on SECN+.

TWO-OUT TERROR

Texas A&M (29-7, 8-4 SEC) has terrorized opponents with two-outs batting .347 and 101 RBI, both ranking top four in the SEC. Allie Enright leads the team in two-out RBI with 23, followed by Jazmine Hill driving in 16 runs. Hill leads the Aggies in two-out batting average at .485, while Julia Cottrill ranks second at .412 and Enright third hitting .409. The Aggies have scored 46% (105-of-230) of their runs with two outs, including 16 home runs with Enright leading the team with six two-out round trippers. Texas A&M leads the SEC in league play with 34 two-out RBI and have scored 64% (36-of-56) of its runs with two outs. In the series finale against Auburn, the Aggies scored 12 runs on two-outs in the 14-6 run-rule victory to complete the sweep in the series at home.

TEXAS A&M IN THE SEC

The Aggies rank in the top five of the SEC in numerous offensive categories, including the second most stolen bases (54), while ranking fourth in batting average (.329), OPS (.973), slugging percentage (.554), runs (230), RBI (207) and home runs (47). The pitching staff leads the conference with 64 strikeouts looking and the 230 total strikeouts are third most, while ranking fifth in opposing batting average (.198) and hits allowed (166).

INSIDE THE SERIES

Texas A&M won the series at Kentucky (23-12, 2-7 SEC) a season ago, including a double-header sweep scoring 24 runs in a 14-13 barn burner and 10-0 run-rule, while bashing five home runs. The Aggies are 4-5 against the Wildcats when playing at home and recently suffered a sweep in 2021.

Spectators planning to attend Saturday’s softball game can park in lots 100a, 100b, 100c, 100d, 100e, 100f and 100g surrounding Reed Arena with a valid Texas A&M permit or by paying $10 cash or card. Parking for Friday and Sunday is free, but fans are highly encouraged to arrive early and have patience for the expected traffic and parking congestion around Reed Arena
