College Station Police Arrests For A Second Significant Shoplifting, Stealing A SUV, And Human Smuggling

College Station police arrest a woman for the second time in 15 days for her part in shoplifting more than $1,000 dollars of merchandise. 49 year old Elizabeth Nance of Austin was one of three people arrested Saturday (August 24) for taking more than $1,500 dollars of items from the Tractor Supply store. Nance was also charged with driving with an invalid license with prior convictions and possessing cocaine and marijuana. She was released from jail on bond August 13th following her arrest August ninth for taking part in shoplifting more than $3,800 dollars in merchandise from the Murdoch’s store at the mall. Nance remains jailed following her latest arrest as of August 27th in lieu of bonds totaling $19,000 dollars. A College Station man arrested August third for DWI with one prior conviction then released from jail on his promise to make court appearances, returned to jail August 22nd on a new charge of stealing a SUV from a construction site in College Station. The arrest report from College Station police says the victim’s boss found the SUV and followed it into a parking lot. When the suspect ran off, the boss found the suspect’s phone. The suspect was found a short time later. 46 year old Anthony Riley remains jailed as if August 27th in lieu of a $5,000 dollar bond on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. College Station police responding to a fight inside a Northgate district restaurant Friday (August 23) just after midnight finds a man wanted by the U.S. Marshals for human smuggling. The CSPD arrest report also says 22 year old Emilio Murillo-Tovar Jr. of Navasota was also arrested for failing to identify himself and possessing cocaine and a THC vape pen. Tovar remains held in the Brazos County jail as of August 27th without bond on the federal warrant.

Bryan Man Admits To Stabbing Two People And Injuring His Daughter

A Bryan man is headed to prison for stabbing two people outside a College Station bar in February 2022, then two months later punching his daughter and throwing her across a room. A Brazos County district court jury took one hour to find 34 year old Ricky Hernandez guilty of injury to a child. Before the sentencing phase of the trial started, Hernandez and the district attorney’s office reached a plea agreement covering punishment in the trial, admitting to the stabbing, and agreeing to punishment in the stabbing. One of the prosecutors tells WTAW News that the victims were satisfied with the 12 year sentence that covers both incidents and Hernandez waiving his right to appeal the trial verdict. News release from the Brazos County district attorney’s office: On Friday, August 23, 2024, Ricky Hernandez, of Bryan, was sentenced to the maximum of 10 years in prison for Injury to a Child and 12 years in prison for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The maximum sentence for the child abuse is ten years in prison, while the maximum for Aggravated Assault is 20 years in prison. The defendant was eligible for probation because of a lack of prior criminal history. On April 3, 2022, Bryan Police were dispatched after the defendant’s ten year-old daughter called 911 to report that the defendant had attacked her. Police met with the victim and found her with multiple visible injuries to her face from being punched by the defendant. The defendant was intoxicated and became angry when his daughter refused to give him a hug. He then punched her in the face and threw her across the room. The victim escaped by breaking a window, running to neighbors, and calling the police. At the time of the Injury to a Child offense, the defendant was on bond for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon out of College Station. On February 19, 2022, College Station Police were dispatched to a local bar in response to calls regarding a stabbing in progress. Shortly thereafter, the police were notified that two victims with stab wounds had been taken to Baylor Scott and White Hospital. Both victims had sustained stab wounds to their chest area. Detective Michael Kennedy with the College Station Police Department led the investigation. Officers on scene interviewed multiple people who reported that the assault started with a verbal altercation inside the bar between one of the victims and members of the Defendant’s family. Once outside the bar, the argument escalated into a physical altercation between the victims and the Defendant. Cell phone video from bystanders revealed that the Defendant began the physical altercation outside the bar and stabbed both victims. The defendant fled prior to law enforcement arrival. Statement from Brazos County assistant district attorneys Jessica Escue and Gretchen Helmuth: “The Defendant repeatedly chose to respond with violence towards individuals who were no threat to him. This punishment sends a message that this behavior will not be tolerated in Brazos County.”

Local DWI Arrests Follows Hit And Run Crashes

College Station police find a man wanted for causing a hit and run crash in a creek at Merry Oaks Park. The CSPD arrest report says two trucks and a trailer were damaged by the collision last Friday night (August 23) on Harvey Road near Munson. After the driver failed field sobriety tests, 38 year old Brian Abbott of College Station was arrested for DWI with two prior convictions. He was also charged with causing damage to the trucks, unlawful possession of a gun due to being intoxicated, and verbally threatening two officers. Abbott is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $27,000 dollars. Bryan police arrest a College Station woman for DWI with a breath alcohol sample over three times the legal limit and causing two hit and run collisions. The BPD arrest report says the victim of the second hit and run followed the suspect’s car. The officer who responded was also aware of a disturbance involving the first hit and run. The driver’s breath alcohol samples were .279 and .282. The driver, 62 year old Kathryn Kenefick, was released from jail the day after her arrest last Thursday (August 22) after posting bonds totaling $6,000 thousand dollars.
