December’s Bryan city council meeting included a variety of capital project updates.
The list from city manager Kean Register included what is happening at Midtown Park, Coulter Drive, Palasota Street, and the downtown Bryan quiet zone.

List from the Bryan city manager’s office:
• The driveway is ready for the Big Shots grand opening.
• The anticipated completion for the Midtown Park Shared Use Path is in January, and the Midtown Blvd Extension to Williamson Drive should be completed by April.
• The contractor is working on the punchlist items for the Travis Fields Project.
• All utility work on the Coulter Drive Reconstruction project has been completed. The TxDOT contractor will return in early 2022 to finish the remaining sidewalk work.
• Most of the pavement on Palasota Street Phase 1 has been installed with the exception of the roundabouts, which will be closed this month at the Palasota and Beck Street intersection for construction. Anticipated project completion is in April.
• The Palasota Street Phase 2 construction project will begin in January, and expected completion is the end of 2022.
• The Still Creek Culvert Replacement Project is expected to be complete by end of the month.
• Downtown Quiet Zone Construction is complete on the first phase of improvements, outside of the Rail Road right-of-way. Construction cannot proceed until permits from Union Pacific are received. Although the City provided all requirement documents three months ago, staff was informed it could take up to a year for approval. In hopes to minimize delays, staff is meeting monthly with UP and working to complete the detailed design. The goal is to provide all necessary documentation for construction to proceed without delay. Future construction is dependent on UP’s infrastructure improvements, including the quad gates at Groesbeck.
• Construction on the 1179 TXDOT Raised Medians has commenced and is anticipating to take nine months. The project scope includes the intersection of South College and Villa Maria, along the curve of Villa Maria at Briarcrest and ending at the intersection of Briarcrest and Kent Street. A future phase will include median installation between Midtown Park Blvd and South College Avenue. Traffic delays are expected, as traffic will be narrowed to one lane in each direction in the areas of construction.
• The playground equipment for Sadie Thomas Park was delivered last week, and staff is working on an installation schedule.
