New baseball and softball fields in Bryan are ready to play ball. That’s the headline in a news release from the outside management company who is managing the Travis Field complex for the city of Bryan.

According to RCI sports management, the first of more than 30 tournaments and related events will be played early next year.

Operations director Scott Hillier told WTAW News that it is likely no games will be played this year due to construction.

The Travis Field complex includes three new lighted ballfields with synthetic turf, covered concrete grandstands, eight covered batting cages, a new concession and restroom building, and more parking.

Completion of the more than $7 million dollar complex was delayed eight months due to the weather.

RCI will also operate a nearly $2 million dollar baseball and softball academy named D-BAT Aggieland that will be located next to the Travis Field complex.
