A lesson in contacting non profit agencies before fundraising for them comes from United Way of the Brazos Valley (UWBV).
Monday afternoon, UWBV posted social media that they had contacted Bryan police about two people going to homes soliciting money for a winter storm fund and that there was no association.
About two and a half hours later, UWBV returned to social media announcing the matter was resolved.
The individuals were identified and stated they had full intentions of giving the donations to United Way.
While UWBV appreciated the work, the organization stated it is not their policy to solicit door to door and this experience serves as a reminder for individuals to always work with the nonprofit.
