What Happened After Out Of Town College Station Residents Notify Police About A Stranger In Their Home

College Station police responds to a report from a family that is out of town getting a video notification of a stranger in their home at 4:20 Thursday morning (December 26). That leads to officers running down a suspect who gets caught then resists arrest and refuses to give his name. Officers recover a gun that was stolen from the home. 34 year old Alphonso Turner of College Station was charged with burglary of a habitation, evading and resisting arrest, possessing a THC vape pen and possessing a misdemeanor amount of marijuana. As of December 26th, Turner was jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $135,000 dollars. Online court records show Turner is awaiting trials for felony evading arrest following an arrest in August of 2023, felony possession of a controlled substance following an arrest in May of 2019, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana arrests that took place in May and December of 2019. Online court records also show Turner pleaded guilty to four home burglaries that took place in the summer of 2008, an armed robbery that took place in April 2010, and misdemeanor evading arrests that took place in June and August of 2008.

What Went Into The Options For Proposed College Station ISD Calendar Options For The 2025-26 School Year

Everyone associated with College Station ISD is invited to participate in the district’s annual survey of calendar options for the next school year. Friday, January 3rd is deadline to participate in the online survey that has two options and an opportunity to submit comments. CSISD’s director of instruction Jeff Mann reported during the school board’s December 17th meeting that the recommendations were the result of collecting information from employees earlier than usual. That was followed by feedback from the district’s education improvement council (DEIC), which includes 21 teachers, four administrators, three parents, two community members, two businesspeople, and 21 administrators who are non-voting members. After the survey closes, responses will be reviewed by administrators and the DEIC before returning to the board for final action. Mann and superintendent Tim Harkrider explained composing a calendar that meets the minimum number of instructional minutes required by the state while meeting desired start and end dates. Harkrider pointed out the calendar identifies staff days and work days and that the state is no longer granting waivers to not make up days lost to severe weather and incidents similar to the recent flooding at Pebble Creek elementary that resulted in cancelling classes for two days. Brazos County Commissioners Debate Over Board Reappointments

One of two departing members of the Brazos County commission was not able to reappoint members to a board in his precinct. During the commission’s December 10th meeting, county judge Duane Peters told precinct one commissioner Steve Aldrich that he wanted to wait on two reappointments to the board of emergency services district (ESD) one until after Bentley Nettles takes office. Aldrich, who said Nettles was not opposed to the reappointments during a private meeting, was not able to get a second to his motion to approve the reappointments. Aldrich then brought up the approval of reappointments to the ESD in precinct three, where commissioner Nancy Berry is also going out of office.
