Business at the Bryan city council’s last meeting of 2020 included buying land across the street from the site of BTU’s new administration offices.

The council without discussion approved the $275,000 dollar purchase of nearly two acres of land located on Carson Street.

The council previously approved converting the former armory building next to Travis Field, where the Brazos Valley Bombers play, to BTU’s new headquarters.

Quoting background information given to the council, “BTU staff is working to ensure the (Armory) building will be sufficient in design and size to meet business and customer needs for decades to come. Staff anticipates possible future need for additional property for parking lot expansion and/or an additional building to meet needs for growth.”

The council was also told, “With the expected development of the Bryan Midtown area, staff believes this property should be procured while it is currently available for purchase.”
