Punishment for a Hearne man who Brazos County prosecutors say admitted to assaulting an ex-girlfriend and his grandfather in Bryan last winter was extended by four years after failing to make a court appearance. According to the district attorney’s office, 27 year old Malachi Muse Jr. was scheduled to be in court August 2 to receive an eight year prison sentence. After Muse failed to appear, an arrest warrant was issued. He was caught on August 12 and returned to jail for the 18th time in ten years. Appearing in court on Monday, Muse was sentenced to 12 years for assaulting his grandfather, breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and assaulting her, and jumping bail.
A College Station man who admitted almost three years ago to injuring a 15 year old child eight years ago, returned to Brazos County district court this week. 32 year old Robert Cooper III of College Station and the district attorney’s office entered a plea agreement where Cooper admitted to violating conditions of his probation. Cooper was sentenced to two years in prison for failing…among other things…to perform community service and failing to submit to drug tests nine times. In 2018, Cooper was given four years probation from a ten year prison term.
