A discarded cigarette started a grass fire near Bryan’s airport that kept five fire departments busy for over five hours Tuesday afternoon.

Precinct 3 Fire Chief Gerald Burnett says this was at the former Hot Rod Hill racetrack on Marino Road north of Highway 21.

Comments from Gerald Burnett.

Firefighters from Precincts 2, 3, and 4 and the City of Bryan responded and the South Brazos Volunteer Department covered other fire calls.
