Brazos County Health District Presents Coronavirus Update To County Commissioners

Brazos County commissioners at this week’s meeting received an update on what the health district is doing regarding the coronavirus.

The health district’s operations manager, Yao Akpalu, says the only tool we have is taking preventative health measures…beginning with washing our hands with soap.

Akpalu says the prevention tips are the same as with the flu, which he says there is a record number of cases this year in Brazos County.

Akpalu says their office, the Centers for Disease Control, and other agencies have been preparing and practicing if and when a pandemic takes place.

He invites those wanting more information to go to the health district’s website, brazoshealth.org, and the CDC website.

According to the health district’s website, only one person has been tested for coronavirus. A Texas A&M student tested negative six weeks ago.
