State Senator Charles Schwertner Reaction To TxDOT Announcing Public Meeting To Improve Highway 6 Between Bryan And Hearne

The Texas Department of Transportation’s Bryan district office announces there will be a public meeting this spring to consider long term safety improvements along Highway 6 between Bryan and Hearne.

This is associated with a TxDOT study that began in May 2019 and is anticipated to conclude November 2020.

The spring meeting is considered good news by state senator Charles Schwertner, whose district includes that stretch of road.

Schwertner acknowledged the current construction of longer turning lanes as a step towards improving safety.

But Schwertner hopes to see a divided highway in the next three to five years.

TxDOT has not announced a date or location of this spring’s public meeting.

Schwertner stressed the importance of attending, because it does matter to TxDOT in setting priorities and funding “when citizens speak up”.

TxDOT reports construction of the turning lanes will continue for another two years.
