Reminders from the B/CS Better Business Bureau

The Bryan/College Station Better Business Bureau has received complaints from an out of town travel service. The BBB’s Bill McGuire says Direct Travel, which has made at least two sales pitches in the last week, has a failing grade with the Houston office. The organization is also known as a “Buyers Club” with at least a dozen other names. McGuire also says they are falsely promoting themselves as accredited bureau members.

McGuire says this is another group that “offers” some sort of free travel voucher as the worm to get elderly people to come to a presentation where sales people strongly recommend they become members for anywhere from $1,500 to over $4,000 in order to get travel discounts.  People who receive their mailers have to bring a ticket to a presentation and are encouraged to bring their spouse. McGuire says one gentleman reported he had not given them any money and was basically mad about their strong-arm tactics.

McGuire invites those interested in knowing the background of any business to call the local bureau or check their website.

Comments from Bill McGuire.

McGuire says their ratings includes businesses that have had at least three inquiries to their office and/or online.

McGuire says when you see a particular grade, it’s also important to read why.
