Joint news release from Hospice Brazos Valley and CHI-St. Joseph health system:

CHI St. Joseph Health and Hospice Brazos Valley began renovations recently as part of relocating the Hospice Brazos Valley inpatient facility. Hospice Brazos Valley will be located on the second floor of College Station Hospital. This location is the former College Station Medical Center, which CHI St. Joseph acquired on August 1 of this year.

“This will be a wonderful addition to the services available at College Station Hospital. With the recent acquisition of College Station Hospital, we continue to look for ways to expand services and carry out our healthcare ministry and mission. Moving inpatient hospice to College Station allows us to accomplish both of these goals,” said Theron Park, President and CEO of CHI St. Joseph Health.

The move is expected to be complete by the end of the first quarter. The new location provides ample parking which creates a more accessible and convenient location for patients and their families needing inpatient hospice care, while also giving HBV a physical presence in College Station. The inpatient hospice facility will offer seven rooms in a state of the art hospice environment. No other changes in inpatient hospice operations are expected.

“This move allows Hospice Brazos Valley to continue providing excellent patient care as part of our commitment to serve the community and our healthcare partners,” said Craig Borchardt, Ph.D, CEO of Hospice Brazos Valley. “As the only non-profit hospice provider in the area, we are dedicated to making hospice care available to all who need end-of-life treatment and we deeply appreciate CHI St. Joseph Health in partnering with us to make it all possible.”

The inpatient facility is dedicated to providing specialized care for Hospice Brazos Valley patients who require frequent assessment for symptom management and skilled medical interventions. Care is directed by a Board Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Doctor and administered in a family oriented environment staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility team includes RNs, LVNs, Care Aides, Social Workers, Volunteers, and Grief Support professionals who are experienced and trained in hospice and palliative care.
