Two men from the Houston area are in jail after being arrested for their involvement in possible bank jugging incidents.
According to the College Station police arrest report, an officer saw a vehicle in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank on Rock Prairie Road that was the suspect of two “bank juggings” that had occurred in the area. The officer made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and conducted a search.
The driver, 26 year-old Myron Jeffrey of Houston, was in possession of a window punch, which he had hid in his pants.
The passenger, 20 year-old Zachariah Gardner of Fulshear was in possession of marijuana. Both men were in possession of large sums of cash.
Police also found work gloves and glass shards under the backseat.
Jeffrey was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence for trying to hide the window punch and possession of a criminal instrument. CSPD also noted he had Facebook posts going back to as far as 2018 bragging about “hitting up Chase/Wells Fargo Banks” while posing with large amounts of money and weapons.
Gardner was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana.
CSPD reminds you to protect yourself from bank jugging:
• Always be aware of your surroundings
• Conceal money before leaving the bank. Never openly carry bank bags, envelopes, or coin boxes.
• Be aware of anyone following you from the area of a bank
• If you suspect you are being targeted, call 911 from your cell phone and keep the dispatcher informed of your location, the direction you are traveling, and drive toward the police station until marked police cars are able to locate you.
• Do not leave or try to hide your bank bag or bank envelope in your vehicle when you exit at your next destination, even if it’s your residence.
