Three Arrests This Week By College Station Police On Property Crime Charges

College Station police made three arrests this week on charges of committing property crimes.

One involves a stolen dog who was recovered. According to the arrest report, 21 year old Mathea Johnson of College Station told officers he walked right into the unlocked home in the University Heights neighborhood. Johnson was also arrested on a warrant from Texas A&M police accusing him of pawning a stolen laptop. Johnson was arrested following a traffic stop Tuesday night, after a CSPD officer discovered the registration expired last month and insurance coverage ended two weeks ago.

The second arrest accused a former Macy’s store employee of taking $1,400 out of cash registers since November 29th. At the time of that arrest, 19 year old David Martinez III of Bryan was out on bond from an arrest last May on a home burglary charge. CSPD reviewed surveillance video, which according to the arrest report, showed Martinez taking money from cash registers. Macy’s loss prevention department also provided a signed statement from Martinez admitting to taking between $25 and $500 dollars on 11 occasions between November 29th and December 17th.

And twice this week, a Bryan man was arrested on forgery charges. The latest arrest of 25 year old Kendrick Taylor is for cashing a $1,900 dollar check belonging to a local business. According to the arrest report, Taylor told CSPD he cashed two forged checks he wrote to himself from that business and other forged checks reported to Bryan police. Taylor said he was cashing checks for someone who hired immigrant workers who were not allowed to cash checks. According to online records, Taylor is awaiting trial from an arrest last month for criminal trespassing. He also went to jail this year following arrests for riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the street, shoplifting, and serving time for evading and resisting arrest.

Johnson, Martinez, and Taylor are all out of jail after posting bond.
