Future Traffic Plans For Fitch Between Rock Prairie And Pebble Creek/Corporate Parkway

College Station’s Pebble Creek subdivision, which was established in 1998, has the green light for a major expansion.

That’s after the city council approved rezoning at its last meeting for nearly 200 acres at the southwest corner of Fitch and Rock Prairie.

Council questions focused on intersection improvements along Fitch between Rock Prairie and Pebble Creek Parkway. Senior planner Lauren Hovde responded to a question about who will be paying for new signals and turn lanes at Fitch and Rock Prairie that are projected to be added in about six years.

Pebble Creek Parkway will also be extended across Fitch to the north. The extension will be named Corporate Parkway as part of the city’s new midtown district. That intersection will initially be an all-way stop.

Most of the zoning change is for new home construction. But the southwest corner of the intersection will be reserved for general commercial. And about ten percent of the rezoned land is for flood protection.

Hovde was asked about two sections of land that will be rezoned from rural to natural protected area next to Pebble Creek country club.

The council action took place October 7. As of October 24, developers have not submitted any additional plans for review by the city of College Station’s planning and development services office.
