The Brazos County district attorney’s office announces a College Station man has admitted to what they describe as a form of human trafficking.

According to the arrest report, 35 year old Marcus Ealoms called one prostitute more than 1,800 times.

Prosecutors say that prostitute deposited more than $5,000 dollars into Ealoms’s jail commissary account and was ordered by Ealoms to have $10,000 more in his bank account.

Ealoms, who was on parole at the time of his arrest for drug convictions, was sentenced to ten years in prison as part of a plea agreement.

News release from the Brazos County district attorney’s office:

Marcus Ealoms, 35, of Bryan pled guilty yesterday in the 361st District Court and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for Promotion of Prostitution.

Ealoms used economic control and threats to manipulate a woman to engage in prostitution for his profit. This is one form of human trafficking.

On September 27, 2018 police received a crime stoppers tip about an online advertisement for prostitution. Through an undercover operation, the police were able to contact the woman at a local motel.

The defendant’s ID was in the room. Police searched the woman’s cell phone where they discovered the defendant had been trafficking her as a prostitute.

The defendant would constantly ask the woman where she was, who she was with, and how much she was charging.

Police found evidence that Ealoms would get angry if the woman was not making enough money. Ealoms even expressed anger that the woman took a few minutes to shower in a hotel room after meeting a buyer, expressing his concern that she wasn’t making enough money to justify paying for the room.

The woman revealed she had sold herself to around 50 men while working for the defendant.

From this evidence, Ealoms was arrested for Promoting Prostitution.

From the jail, the defendant continued to call the woman and pressure her to engage in prostitution, or he would be mad. He told her he expected her to have $10,000 waiting for him in a bank account. Additionally, the woman put $5,000 on Ealoms’ jail account.

Ealoms is currently on parole for selling drugs.

He also pled guilty to one year in state jail for Evading Arrest after running from police officers during a traffic stop.

The police department has offered the woman resources to help her escape prostitution.
