The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley’s first Brazos Valley Gives event raised nearly $300,000 dollars for 103 non-profit agencies.
Just after the end of the 18 hour online fundraiser, the brazosvalleygives.org website indicated a preliminary total of 1,840 donations raising $295,208 dollars.

In addition, more than $20,000 in prize funds went to participating nonprofits and several nonprofits raised matching funds.
There is a new contract between Baylor Scott and White Health (BSW) and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBS-TX). A BSW spokeswoman tells WTAW News that an agreement was reached that will keep their providers in network with BCBS-TX. No details of the new contract were released. The BSW spokeswoman says “as related documents are finalized, BCBS members will continue receiving uninterrupted, in-network care.” BCBS-TX issued on its website, a statement that is similar to what was issued by BSW. Brazos County commissioners hear allegations of voter fraud. The commission’s general counsel said the district attorney’s office was told about one person voting twice in this year’s Republican primary runoff. A spokeswoman in the DA’s office told WTAW News that they do not comment on their investigations or pending cases. Commissioners heard the allegations during Tuesday’s meeting (September 24) from the chairman of the Brazos County Democratic Party, Thomas Cavaness. Junior League of Bryan-College Station announces a new fundraiser, Betting on the Brazos. “Our theme is Casino-Inferno because we are having it at an old fire station,” says Kim Sailor, Vice President of Communications. The game night, which includes blackjack and poker tables, will be held at the newly renovated Visit College Station building in front of City Hall. Sailor says this event replaces Junior League’s annual Charity Ball. “Charity Ball used to be the only game in town so to speak, and now it feels like more and more organizations have some kind of gala or ball. We wanted to do something different,” says Sailor. Sailor says proceeds will continue to support the league’s signature project, Stuff the Bus. Betting on the Brazos is Saturday, November 9th.
