The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley’s first Brazos Valley Gives event raised nearly $300,000 dollars for 103 non-profit agencies.
Just after the end of the 18 hour online fundraiser, the brazosvalleygives.org website indicated a preliminary total of 1,840 donations raising $295,208 dollars.

In addition, more than $20,000 in prize funds went to participating nonprofits and several nonprofits raised matching funds.
The College Station city council approves selling land along the freeway next to the Costco store for commercial development. The city’s chief development officer, Michael Ostrowski, said there could be four restaurants along the freeway and a couple of sizeable retail buildings, Ostrowski says the council will decide on the final design of what will happen on 11 acres of land. In 2014, a Bryan High School student organization was formed to end the use of tobacco products. Two representatives of Vikings Kicking Out Tobacco (VKOT) presented two requests at January’s Bryan city council meeting. Gabriela Garcia asked for more signage and more enforcement of the city ordinance prohibiting tobacco use in city parks. Jonathan Ferrazas asked for the city to be a participant in a public awareness campaign about the consequences of possessing THC vape cartridges, which is a felony crime. By state law, council members were not able to respond to the requests because the item was not on the meeting agenda. A Bryan woman is jailed on a charge of attempting to hit her boyfriend with her car four times. Bryan police responded Tuesday to a witness report of what happened in the parking lot of a restaurant off Highway 21. According to the BPD arrest report, the victim said multiple times he did not want to get his girlfriend of four years into trouble. 36 year old Jennifer Leona Hall, who was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, remains in jail as of January 16th in lieu of a $30,000 dollar bond. A College Station man awaiting four felony criminal trials on drug charges, returns to jail for the seventh time in less than three years. Online jail records shows 53 year old Troy Tarver was booked January 8th on charges of committing five felony thefts, each with more than two convictions. The thefts took place in College Station during a 12 day period in November of 2024. The jail records show as of January 16th, Tarver is held on all the drug and theft charges in lieu of bonds totaling $495,000 dollars.
